As part of Kelsey Nelson's neighborhood art project Wraparound, I pulled letterpress prints for a day on the porch of 3938 NE Cleveland St. in Portland.
This project was a collaboration with the residents of 3938: Laura Cannon, Ryan Fisher (aka Chopper), and Phina, their two-year-old daughter who is really cute.
They gave me a box of objects that were meaningful to them, and told me the stories behind each piece. I chose my favorites and made them into plates for the letterpress, which I brought to their porch for the day.
There were many images but my personal favorite was a piece of the Austin, Texas phone book that Chopper tore out to give Laura his number. It was ancient and crumbling but she has kept it for years.
