Vernacular gardens found in San Francisco, and in particular in the Outer Richmond, Outer Sunset and Excelsior, are living indicators of the city's temperament. They are a bridge between private and public space. They are communication.
This is an exercise in documentation.
I grew up in the Richmond district, in the foggy avenues near the beach and the park. My dad was a gardener in Golden Gate Park and my mom was a florist. I'd walk home from school and fill my pockets with leaves.
