In February of 2010, Sarah Baugh and I presented a multimedia collaboration at the Land Gallery in Portland, Oregon. Together we explored our relationships to the American West, our personal mythologies and the ways in which our families had found themselves in the great wild open that is our home.
Natives of California and Idaho, Sarah and I employed new methods of working that reflected our free-form exploration of our vast yet personal topic. Using found objects, gathered pieces of nature, old bottles and lots of shelves, we constructed a nonlinear narrative of our own experiences, our shared experiences, and the folk stories that emerged during our research.
This zine documented our process and was a companion publication to the exhibition. It is available for purchase online at Buy Olympia.
